Mass – Liturgy Of The Word. In the liturgy of the word Christians come together to thank God for God's gifts. Listening to God's word (the Bible) they grow in faith more conformed to the mind of Christ. Liturgy celebrates the wonders of creation and gives thanks for the reality of redemption. The liturgy is a celebration not of what God. That is the Introductory Rite, and now we move to the first major movement of the Mass, the Liturgy of the Word. In the Liturgy of the Word the focus of the Mass becomes the lectern, the place where God will speak to us in his Word. As Catholics we believe the Bible is different than any other book in the world. The liturgy is divided into two main parts: The Liturgy of the Word (Gathering, Proclaiming and Hearing the Word, Prayers of the People) and the Liturgy of the Eucharist (together with the Dismissal), but the entire liturgy itself is also properly referred to as the Holy Eucharist.
In the Roman Rite, the Mass is made up of two principal parts: the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. It begins with the Introductory Rites and ends with the Concluding Rites. Flowersoutlander lists & timelines.
Texting shorthand for older folks. Another way of dividing a Mass is into its 'ordinary' parts—those texts which, with some variations, are part of the Mass on a daily basis—and its 'proper' parts—the texts of prayers and selection of Scripture readings proper to the specific feast, feria or other occasion being observed.
